For Jake Isaman, being a buckeye runs in the family. With both of his parents, graduates of Ohio State, he grew up with a love for the university. Now, Isaman is a second-year electrical engineering student at his parents’ alma mater.

Isaman’s interest in engineering sparked as a child when his grandfather showed him the motherboard of his parents’ computer while repairing it. Ever since that experience, he has grown up with a fascination for taking things apart and seeing how they work.

Now pursuing his interest in engineering in college, Isaman first became involved with the SIMCenter through his work with the EcoCAR team at Ohio State, where he worked on dSPACE software. He brought his knowledge to the SIMCenter, where he now helps update and work with dSPACE products. He is currently working on automotive simulation utilizing the dSPACE ASM library. Isaman has also had the opportunity to expand his knowledge of other simulation tools. “The skill that I have most developed is working in Simulink,” Isaman said.

During his time at Ohio State working with EcoCAR and the SIMCenter, Isaman said he has learned how important teamwork and collaboration are in accomplishing goals. “I have always believed in teamwork, but since I have started at Ohio State it has illuminated how crucial inclusiveness and collaboration are when trying to solve a problem,” Isaman said.
