SMS BASICS FOR PRACTITIONERS
Systems Modeling and Simulation (SMS) Basics for Practitioners provides engineers an introduction to Systems Modeling and Simulation (SMS), and the value of SMS. Both a business perspective and an operations perspective on the challenges and essentials to deploy SMS will be discussed. In addition, the course will present the basic architecture of SMS methods and ecosystem.
What you'll learn
- Ability to describe trends and challenges relative to SMS as part of Digital Transformation initiatives of businesses. Relevant examples from the automotive industry will be presented.

SMS CORE FOR PRACTITIONERS
This course builds on the concepts presented in SMS Basics for Practitioners by clarifying model-based definitions and their role within the engineering landscape and Systems Engineering “V” diagram will be presented. The course will then discuss the role of requirements along with guidance on writing good requirements. The course will also focus on the role of taxonomy.

- Properly define MBSE terms and use them appropriately.
- Appreciate the criticality of requirements and their impact on downstream processes.
- Realize the importance of a common set of terms and definition and communication within other groups inside and outside of an enterprise.
- Write effective requirements using correct structure and framework.

SMS ENHANCED FOR PRACTITIONERS
The final course in the SMS Track for Practitioners continues the discussion of MBSE with a presentation of role of existing and emerging standards within the MBSE framework along with deployment challenges. The course then transitions to a discussion of the digital twin. Challenges implementing digital twin capabilities and methodologies along with a discussion of maturity levels of the digital twin will be included.

- Identify critical existing and emerging standards necessary for successful digital transformation deployment.
- Recognize the potential deployment challenges for MBx and how to overcome them.
- Identify the challenges in implementing digital twin methodologies and capabilities.
